Is it worthfixing-or-repairing

"Is it worth fixing, or is it time to say goodbye? Let’s break down the smart way to decide what your appliance really needs."

Major considerations

The main thing to consider is repair cost vs lifespan, you are looking for the best value.  Does this appliance make your kitchen look dated and would need replacement to help make your home more attractive for buyers in the near future?  Would you enjoy the latest features available on the newer models of that type of appliance?  If you choose to have it serviced, are you planning on making the repair yourself or hire someone?  Many repairs on appliances are not too difficult for a DIY project, but some of the major factors to consider before attempting the repair yourself are based on your skills, tools, difficulty, and most importantly safety.  I mention safety due to the fact that some DIY projects end up causing injury and the possibility of major damage due to not doing the repair correctly.  For example, bypassing a defective safety device that keeps the oven from overheating can cause a house fire.  Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be used as needed, no use adding medical costs to the repair cost.  Some repairs and replacements may require the help of a professional, especially with issues dealing with the appliance utility hook up or performance.  I use the term utilities for items like gas, water, electrical, which is best serviced by a professional due to  unforeseen hazard.

Hope this helps.
